mintfax

mintfax vs. Documo (mFax)

Documo is HITRUST-certified, SOC 2 Type II, with EHR connectors, and signs free BAAs. They also gate API access to a $150-a-month Business plan and bundle inbound IDP that not every team needs. mintfax delivers the developer-API path Documo's pricing tier walls off.

The headline gap

Documo’s pricing page (verified 2026-05-09) lists tiers from Solo ($25) through Pro ($75), Business ($150), Enterprise ($300), and Custom. The Business plan is the entry point for API access - $150/month gets you 2,500 included pages and $0.08 per overage page.

If you’re building a B2B SaaS that sends modest fax volume - 500 pages a month from a small healthtech app, say - Documo’s $150/mo entry tier is a meaningful gate. You’re paying $150 to access an API you might use $30 of. The math gets worse as you scale into the long tail of small-volume customers (your application’s customers, who each use a small slice of your fax integration).

mintfax has no plan minimum. Pay $0.060 per page on the standard tier; pay nothing if you don’t send anything. The API is the API at every tier, including the free sandbox.

What Documo still does well (a lot)

Documo is the strongest single-vertical fax brand for healthcare. If you’re building a healthcare-first product, you should evaluate them seriously.

HITRUST CSF certified. mintfax is not, and won’t be in 2026. Some healthtech buyers gate vendor selection on HITRUST status; for those buyers, mintfax doesn’t qualify yet. We’ll pursue HITRUST when customer pull justifies the audit cost.

EHR connectors. Documo has documented integrations with NextGen, PointClickCare, ModMed, and Jane App. If your product needs to push faxes into an EHR’s intake workflow or pull faxes from an EHR’s outbox, Documo has connectors mintfax doesn’t ship and probably won’t.

Inbound IDP (Intelligent Document Processing). Documo’s IDP product applies OCR + ML to inbound faxes, automatically classifying them and extracting patient data into structured fields. This is a real differentiator for healthcare back-office workflows. mintfax is outbound-only.

Twilio migration partner. Documo was explicitly designated by Twilio as the recommended migration target when Programmable Fax sunset in December 2021.

Multi-level sub-account hierarchy. Documo supports VoIP carriers and SaaS resellers who need to white-label fax under their own brand and manage child sub-accounts.

When mintfax is the right call

mintfax is the right call when:

  • You’re building a B2B SaaS that uses fax as a feature, not a healthcare workflow that centers on fax. Documo’s product surface is healthcare-workflow-shaped; mintfax is engineering-shaped.
  • Your fax volume is bursty and small relative to a $150/mo plan minimum.
  • You need outbound submission, not inbound classification.
  • Your team values Stripe-shaped DX (signed webhooks, idempotency, OpenAPI 3.1, runnable examples) over enterprise-vertical-specific integrations.
  • You want to sign a BAA from your dashboard in five minutes, not coordinate with a vendor’s account team.

mintfax is not the right call when:

  • You need HITRUST certification today.
  • Your product needs to integrate with NextGen, PointClickCare, ModMed, or another EHR via Documo’s connector ecosystem.
  • You need inbound fax automation (IDP, OCR, EHR routing).
  • You’re a VoIP carrier or reseller building a white-label fax service with multi-level sub-accounts.
